What is a VPAT?

The Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) is a template developed by the Information Technology Industry Council and the U.S. General Services Administration. The template exists to help contracting officials and buyers make decisions regarding commercially available Information and Communications Technology (ICT), which includes products like Boom Cards.

VPAT allows ICT product vendors and creators to self-report on how their products meet accessibility standards. The standards that are outlined include WCAG 2.0/2.1 (the revised Section 508 Standards).

The templates consists of tables with accessibility criteria that are filled in by the vendor; the completed template will indicate if and how the features and functions of a product or service meet the technical and functional performance requirements of the chosen set of standards. In this case: WCAG 2.0/2.1.
